The Other Wes Moore: Chapters 7- Epilouge

Image
Hello, if there is still trouble seeing this post I have the google doc linked below. The last stretch, the closing of the book, comes to surface as it begins to conclude the lives and fates of both Wes Moore’s. One one hand we have the author Wes Moor, taking advantage of opportunities And on the other you have the “other” Wes Moore who also takes advantage of a few last given opportunities to move his life in the benefiting direction. To his already corrupt and troublesome footprint he has left in which reflects himself, his fate seems clear. But what all comes is not what comes to these characters, but to the decisions they chose to make, live or stand by. After retrieving the themes from past blogs, another theme came into curation in regards to the closing of the book. The theme follows, stand for who you are, not based on others expectation, but on your belief of what your purpose is to the world. Although lengthy, the theme specifically bases itself off of self control and disc

Hello, if there is still trouble seeing this post I have the google doc linked below.  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BDSa71rz-E8eQABEumdxYTRp7XNmToGO5-fN02ZSjB0/edit?usp=sharing             In the next three chapters in the book of The Other Wes Moore we dwell deeper into the two Wes’s lives and its developing timelines. In this peak of the book it is represented as the breaking point or self-realization on what their fates might evolve into. Their lives become more blurry than it is clear as their decisions to become self-dependent makes their decisions more lethargic rather than rational. A theme curated for these assigned chapters, resisting help and guidance is what blockades you from success, is what came into mind. The author Wes Moore in this stage of the book is begging to gamble between his studies and leisure time. Eventually his time overweighs his studies, with grades to further reflect his commitment and attendance in school. Wes is fully aware yet he believes his

Hello, if there is still trouble seeing this post I have the google doc linked below.  https://docs.google.com/document/d/12RRe-la-jJPt0ffzH1war3R4rLYhUdop2bi0iTE_HTw/edit?usp=sharing                      With the start of the Wes Moore unit coming into effect we are introduced to the introduction and first part of the book. So far, the book has hooked my interest, intrigued me as I flip through its pages. To answer the general question, a theme based off of these chapters became difficult for me to narrow down to. The information, life lessons, and relatability the words omitted taught and conveyed a rich amount of morals. In result I came down to one, living your way may not be the best way. Both Wes's have dealt with situations where they are dealt with making consequential decisions. Whether good or bad outcomes they had to gamble on which would benefit them the best based on what little they knew and understood. Right in the beginning the book touches on the base of this theme

Is Higher Education Worth The Price?

Image
If the format of this submission is still experiencing issues I already provided the doc link (including the pictures) for you to see with no issue. Sorry for the inconvenience if that is the case. Rosen: EBlogger 5 . This week’s module is based on the main question which is also the title of the lesson, Is Higher Education Worth The Price? To answer this question, I can conclude that it is not worth the price to receive higher education. In this case, what is described as “higher” would be how big league and popular universities, colleges, and institutions are. As mainly discussed in the assigned articles, it is evident how people would pay extra dollars just for the name, when that same money can get you the same,  if not more of what you pay for. This mindset of basing your decision on reputation and branding rather than focusing on the components of your studies and how well they can benefit them is becoming highly altered in today's society. The article

Financial Literacy

Breanna Little  EBlogger 4: Financial Literacy  Reflecting on this week’s assignments I can come to a conclusion that the knowledge to know the fundamentals of financial literacy is very crucial. The personal ability to know how to finance, save, budget, and invest for future profit can create multiple benefits. Not only in a personal sense but in a grander sense, spreading its awareness to school curriculums and non-profit organizations. The article that was assigned to read, heavily touches base on incorporating financial literacy to school subjects. The article states that students as young as kindergartners, toddlers, should start the intro stages of saving and organizing a stable budget. Grades K-12 should consist of a recommended two classes per week with the duration of thirty minutes, rather than a once quarter/semester within the whole four-year term. In addition, rather than supporting a lecture vs. test style of teaching, it's influenced that a more physical learning env

Is Fast Food the New Tobacco?

If the format appears off please use this google doc link to better visualize me response.  Sorry for the inconvenience.  EBlogger 3: Is Fast Food the New Tobacco These past two weeks I can definitely say was the most info-packed week so far. The food industry topic is not one to mess with when getting into the nitty gritty. I have learned while researching many things that were absurd or uncalled for. Definitely I can argue that recently the past couple of years there has been both passive and aggressive moves to convince people to eat healthier. More healthier options to purchase goods are becoming more available to the hands of lower income communities. Despite the positive we also look at the negative. We ask why is it taking so long for change to be in effect, what is there to lose exactly. This is where this week's question comes into play, “Is Fast Food the New Tobacco?” or in other words should the blame fall into personal or government responsibility?  It would be most obv

Is Pop Culture Good For You?

If the format appears off please use this google doc link to better visualize me response.  Sorry for the inconvenience.  EBlogger 2: Is Pop Culture Good For You Most certainly there is an indefinite answer to this question, meaning given to certain extents of the present, past, and future there are multiple ways you can respond to this question. The simplistic meaning beyond pop culture resonates between a shared point, objective, or thought, a shared insight of few or many individuals. What may classify this ‘pop culture’ to be dead or disintegrated from modern society is evolution. Evolution from the continuous change of technology, economics, and popular demand. Phil Miller, a long-time researcher on the basis and complexities of  pop culture, presents a TED talk’s speaking in further detail. Miller states, “It's a wave that washes over society, and then withdraws quickly. But it leaves a massive public legacy behind it (TED 2015). His point is, social media being a vast and su
